Search for nearby stellar and sub-stellar objects in the immediate Solar neighbourhood
Searching for very low luminosity objects (very low mass stars, ultra-cool dwarfs and cool white dwarfs) is a very difficult task and the census of these objects in the immediate Solar neighbourhood is still largely incomplete. The two most important issues are (i) detection of the coolest brown dwarfs (Teff < 500K), because their luminosities are close to the detection limits of the current surveys and (ii) detection of objects located in the extremely dense regions of the sky (Galactic Bulge and Galactic plane) because of blending and confusion. In my talk I would like to present results of two projects which have tried to solve these issues.
